“Write a bio for yourself, as a poem.”


linda gregg wrote a great essay called “the art of finding”, imploring poets to find their “resonant sources.” she defines resonant sources as “the concrete details and images out of which the poems are built.” some of gregg’s resonant sources were sensations and images from her childhood in northern california: oak trees, tall grass, stillness, the smell of hot and dry summer air.

kathy evans’ poem “bio” seems to understand gregg’s wisdom. to trace a life is to trace its resonant sources. for a poem to function, there must be a feeling vehicle for the meaning to travel through. let it rip and be resonant!
